When Church meets coffee shop
Hi, I'm Jermaine, pastor of New Life Church and a passionate barista.
Frankfurt is a city full of cafés. People come to them to meet friends, take a break from work, or simply enjoy something good. While people stand in line at coffee shops, many church buildings are empty. For many, church feels distant, unfamiliar, or intimidating.
But a coffee shop feels familiar and safe.
That’s why we’re starting New Life Coffee—a nonprofit coffee shop where quality coffee meets genuine hospitality and conversations about life and faith can happen naturally.
We’re inspired by how Jesus met people where they’re at. We want to do the same.
OUR VISION
THE CHALLENGE
Frankfurt is lonely. It has the highest share of single-person households among Germany’s major cities. 99% don’t attend an evangelical church. A majority doesn't even know what that is. Yet, many are searching for connection, belonging and hope. But a church visit is often met with a lot of scepticism. Not being familiar with the place, the people nor the faith creates a real barrier for many.
OUR RESPONSE
That is why we are launching a familiar, low-threshold environment where barriers fall and everyday relationships grow. At New Life Coffee, people can enjoy excellent coffee, build friendships and see what church looks like as part of everyday life.
On Sundays, the same space becomes our worship gathering. The barista you chatted with during the week may be the same person welcoming you to church.
A CATALYST FOR GOOD
At New Life Coffee quality is our standard – but people are our purpose. We are about:
Social impact, not profit: As a nonprofit, we reinvest all profits. 30% goes to Die Arche (The Ark), supporting disadvantaged children with meals, homework help, and a safe place to grow.
Stewardship: Beyond necessary reserves, the other profits help keep our church meeting space affordable — so donations can go to people, not rent.
Authentic community: Guests meet more than great products; through genuine relationships, they encounter a relational God.
Creating a space, everyone feels welcomed: A Café draws all ages, demographics and nationalities. A dedicated family room means parents don’t have to choose between community and caring for their children.

BECOME A START-UP PARTNER
In order to open up this valuable community space, we are looking for partners to contribute to the start-up costs of New Life Coffee. For that we need:
Equipment and furnishing of the coffee shop:** approx. $ 130,000
Rent and utilities for the first year:** approx. $70,000
**In addition to that about another $100,000 for the church-related fitout. For a more detailed breakdown of costs and questions about the business plan, please don't hesitate to contact us.
